Principal’s Message
Happy Halloween!
This is the final week of Term 1. Students must turn in all assignments by Thursday, November 4. Please remind your child to check Aspen and meet with their teachers this week. Please visit ParentPortal.dcps.dc.gov to access the Aspen Parent Portal.
This Week's Schedule
Students will not have school on Tuesday, November 2 (Election Day) and Friday, November 5 (Teacher PD/Record-keeping Day).
Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) @ Deal This Week
During the month of October, students were able to learn about Responsible Decision Making. In November, they will explore Self-Awareness. During Period 6 tomorrow, we will review metacognition.
Metacognitive strategies are techniques to help students develop an awareness of their thinking processes as they learn. These techniques help students focus with greater intention, reflect on their existing knowledge versus information they still need to learn, recognize errors in their thinking, and develop practices for effective learning.
Have a Happy and Safe Diwali!
This year, Diwali will be celebrated on November 4. Diwali is India's biggest and most important holiday of the year. The festival gets its name from the row (avali) of clay lamps (diya or deepa) that Indians light outside their homes to symbolize the inner light that protects them from spiritual darkness. You can learn a little more about Diwali HERE.
Here we GROW!
