Principal’s Message

Good afternoon,

Shout out to the Deal leadership team (AP Gathers, AP Cummings, and AP Rottman) for joining me at yesterday's EdFEST. We are also grateful to Bethann Siegel (parent) and a few of our students for sharing information about their Deal experience with the nearly forty families who stopped by. Enrollment season for FY 22 - 23 will begin on April 1, 2022. Our goal is to be 100% enrolled by June 23, 2022.

Lunch/Recess Rotation

When we experience cooler temperatures, we will shift from having all students eat outside to an indoor lunch/outdoor recess rotation. This will ensure that no more than half of the students in a grade level will be in the cafeteria at one time. Additionally, students will be required to sit in every other seat. Students should see their grade-level administrator or counselor if they would like to continue to eat outside.

SEL @ Deal This Week

Research shows that adopting an evidence-based program is one of the key strategies for providing consistent SEL opportunities for students. To that end, we have started utilizing Move This Wold during Period 6 on Mondays. Move This World uses interactive videos, movement, and creative expression to support explicit instruction and regular practice of social-emotional skills.

Pre-Winter Break Good Vibes

Although Teacher Appreciation Week doesn't officially take place until May, I encourage you and your students to share positive notes and good vibes with our teachers/staff during the next two weeks. Let's press toward winter break with appreciation and love!

After-School Club Update:

Model UN meetings will take place in person in Ms. Cohen’s classroom (E307) from 3:35 pm to 4:30 pm on Tuesdays.
