Vocal Ensembles @ Deal

The auditions for 6th graders who would like to participate in the Deal vocal ensembles will be held tomorrow.  Please email Mr. Mitchell (paul.mitchell4@k12.dc.gov) and cc Dr. Cummings (raymond.cummings@k12.dc.gov) for additional information.

Monday, October 23 - 6th Grade Auditions 

• Room CG21, 3:30 pm - 5:00 pm

• All students should come prepared to audition with a song that meets their comfort, current skills and ability.  

Basic Skills Level 

• Basic Pitch Matching ( 5 note major scale patterns) 

• Happy Birthday

• Twinkle Twinkle Little Star 

Intermediate Skills Level 

• Intermediate Pitch Matching ( 8 note major scale patterns ) 

• Octave Exercise 

• Do Re Mi 

Advance Chorus 

• Advance Pitch Matching ( 8 note major/minor scale patterns ) 

• Extended Octave Exercise  

• Star Spangled Banner 

• Climb Every Mountain 

Audition Process

• Students sign in

• Review the required review audition materials 

• Separate groups by cards 

• Audition all groups

• Student Vocal Ensemble placements will be published and sent by email on Thursday, October 25

Students should bring homework, books or something constructive to do while their other groups are auditioning.

• Deal Combined Chorus (this group includes all choruses), Mondays, 8:00 - 8:40 a.m., Multi-Purpose Room

• Voices of Promise - VOP, Wednesdays, 8:00 - 8:40 am., Room CG21 

• Voices of Change - VOC, Thursdays, 8:00 - 8:40 am., Room CG21
