No Shots, No School

This year, families are required to submit their student’s immunization record to attend school. To see a list of required immunizations for your child, visit dchealth.dc.gov/immunizations.  For the 2022-2023 School Year, all students ages 12 and older are required to have the COVID-19 vaccine to attend school. DCPS will require all enrolled students to provide their immunization record by Monday, October 10.

If you have not already submitted your child’s immunization records, here is what you need to do:

  • Step 1: Make an appointment with your child’s doctor. DC offers resources to help you find a health provider or if you do not have health insurance.

  • Step 2: Have the doctor complete DC’s Universal Health Certificate, available HERE. Your health provider may also provide a different proof of immunization document or an exemption explanation.

  • Step 3: Submit your paperwork to your child’s school (dealforms@k12.dc.gov).

DCPS School Based Health Centers are now open to the community for vaccinations. They offer both required childhood immunizations for school attendance and the COVID-19 vaccine. Parents/guardians are welcome to get their COVID-19 vaccines at SBHCs, too! There are dozens of additional clinics open in every ward that provide childhood immunizations, including traveling mobile units. · DCPS families should visit https://dcpsreopenstrong.com/vaccines for more information.

Please reach out to Nurse Whitlock (pgwhitlo@childrensnational.org) if you have any questions or concerns.
