Deal Speech and Debate

Deal's Debate team had a great showing at the Washington/Arlington area regional speech and debate league tournament in Fairfax, VA on Saturday. Deal was the only middle school competing against dozens of regional high schools.

In Student Congress:

  • Rohan Tatlow got 1st place in his chamber.

  • Ava Chambers got 4th place in her chamber.

  • Tiago Nunes-Neto qualified for Metrofinals.

In Policy Debate, varsity division:

  • The team of Iris Wilkins and Arabella Bernstein placed 7th overall.

  • Iris was awarded 1st place speaker and Arabella 4th place speaker.

  • The team of Aurora Felton and Emma Elton-Melzi got 9th overall.

In Policy Debate, novice division: 

  • The team of Ved Rupavtarm and Mathias Melcher placed 4th. 

  • Ved was awarded 2nd place speaker and Mathias 3rd place speaker.
