Deal SIT Team
Principal Neal is inviting interested members of our community to support our school by participating in a School Improvement Team (SIT) for the new addition. One of the SIT’s main focuses is to provide feedback during the development of the school-specific education specifications and schematic design and to assist with disseminating information about the progress of the school improvement to their peers and constituencies represented on the School Improvement Team. The committee members are expected to continue through the end of construction and be available to receive updates and consult on issues that arise during construction.
The committee is selected by the central office SIT Coordinator in collaboration with the Principal/DSL/MSL (teachers, school staff, and occasional students), ADCA (parents), and DCPS Community Action Team (external community). The size of the SIT will be limited (~10-15 members), but meetings are open to the public. Each SIT is expected to include the following:
Teachers
School staff
Parents
Neighborhood Organization Representatives
DGS Project Manager
Students (when possible)
Across the members of the School Improvement Team, it is useful to have individuals with backgrounds that include:
Prior SIT experience in Project Management/Operations/Construction/Architecture
5+ Years of Teaching Experience in a Large School (500+ Students)
Engineering Background
Ability to Represent Diverse Perspectives
Ability to Work with Diverse Groups as Part of a Collaborative Team
Understanding of DC Government/DGS Processes
