DC's New Social Studies Standards Available for Review and Public Comment

OSSE (Office of the State Superintendent of Education) has made the new draft standards for social studies in DCPS available for review and public comment through January 30th, 2023.

There are some major changes including the following for middle school:

  • Grade 6: From World Geography and Cultures to World Geography

  • Grade 7: From World History and Geography: Ancient World to US History I: First Nations – Reconstruction

  • Grade 8: From US History and Geography I: Growth and Conflict to Action Civics
