Beginning of Year Assessments

This week Deal students will begin two of the DCPS-required diagnostic assessments. Starting Monday, students will take the iReady Math or MAP Math assessment in their math class. On Wednesday, students will start the MAP Reading Growth assessment in their ELA class. Both assessments are online, dynamic assessments that provide teachers information about students' strengths and areas for growth. The data from the assessments is used to inform instruction. Students who are two or more years behind grade-level will be considered for a reading or math support course. The math acceleration policy is HERE.
