8th Grade Community Project Fair | May 18; 10:00 - 12:00 noon

The MYP Community Project is a required component of the International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program.  The MYP community project focuses on community and service, encouraging students to explore opportunities to identify and address problems within different communities. MYP community projects help students to develop important skills, provide students with an essential opportunity to demonstrate their abilities to problem solve, research, collaborate, and communicate, and promote a vision of themselves as independent, lifelong learners.

The aims of the MYP community projects are to encourage and enable students to:

  • participate in a sustained, self-directed inquiry within a global context

  • create new insights and develop deeper understandings through in-depth investigation

  • encourage the persistence and follow-through needed to complete a long-term project

  • communicate effectively in a variety of situations

  • demonstrate responsible action through, or as a result of, learning

  • appreciate the process of learning and take pride in their accomplishments

Students will record their activities throughout the project in a process journal and will culminate with an oral presentation.
