6th Grade Team Building Field Trip
We are delighted to announce that our 6th grade students will once again participate in our annual community-building outdoor educational enrichment activity – this year, they will participate in this important team-building opportunity at the Adventure Park at Sandy Spring, Maryland. At Sandy Spring, students will participate in outdoor activities designed to help them form relationships with their peers, teachers, and staff. Through these activities, students get to know each other better, gain trust in each other, and learn to respect and appreciate our community.
Trip Cost: The Deal PTA graciously supplements over 50% of the trip’s cost. Thus, the cost of the trip for each student is only $35 (check or money order payable to Alice Deal Middle School). If you are in need of a partial scholarship because you are in financial difficulty, please send an e-mail to Ms. Gathers (stacey.gathers@k12.dc.gov). Our goal is to have every student participate in this wonderful activity.
Trip Details: Students should arrive at school promptly at 8:00 AM on their trip day so that the transportation can leave on time. Students will return to Deal before the end of the regular school day.

What Students Should Bring: On the day of the activity, students should wear comfortable, loose-fitting clothes that they will not mind getting dirty, and pack a lunch with a couple bottles of water. (If your student will need a lunch, please reach out to your homeroom teacher.) Students are also encouraged to bring a raincoat or poncho in case of rain. Students are to wear sneakers or footwear that is appropriate for a day in the woods. Students should not wear sandals, flip-flops, heels, or Crocs. Hair that is longer than chin-length should be tied back. Student may choose to bring gloves.
What We Need: Please return the following forms & fee by Tuesday, October 4th to your student’s homeroom teacher in order for your student to attend the activity:
DCPS Permission Slip (attached);
Completed Adventure Park at Sandy Spring Waiver (linked above for your child’s team);
$35 check or money order payable to Alice Deal Middle School
