The ADMS Speech and Debate Team

Congratulations to all the members of the ADMS Speech and Debate team who attended the Washington-Arlington Catholic Forensics League Lincoln-Douglas debate tournament this weekend!  Our small band of 14 took on the high school students of northern Virginia, Maryland and DC and completed the tournament with an almost 70% win-loss record.  By far one of the best showings for ADMS at a tournament of this caliber in quite some time.

Earning qualification to the high school metro-final tournament in March were the following students:

  • Max Tatton--Varsity Lincoln-Douglas debate

  • Jessie Moss--Junior Varsity Lincoln-Douglas debate (3rd Place)

  • Finn Farrell--Junior Varsity  Lincoln-Douglas debate

Earning a 3-1 winning record were the following students:

  • Zoe Becker--Varsity Lincoln-Douglas debate (4th place)

  • Nick von Hindenburg--Novice Lincoln-Douglas debate (6th place)

  • Andrew Bennett--Novice Lincoln-Douglas debate (7th place)

  • Emil Hanna--Novice Lincoln-Douglas debate

  • Adrian Hanna--Novice Lincoln-Douglas debate

  • Isaac Wallsten--Novice Lincoln-Douglas debate

  • Maya Raj--Novice Lincoln-Douglas debate

Special thanks goes out to the parents and grandparents who pitched in to help meet ADMS's judging obligation allowing the tournament to take place.

Next up, we have an even smaller band of 8th graders attending a speech tournament next weekend and then we will be taking on the states of West Virginia, Pennsylvania, New York, and Maryland at the Appalachian Speech and Debate Championships in two weeks.
